Jonathan Brack, Local York chiropractor discusses Back pain and neck pain.

back pain and neck pain are no fun, and I should know being a sufferer myself!

There are all sorts of options out there for interventions, from belt supports to surgery.

As a local York chiropractor, these complaints are our bread and butter, it’s what we see the most and so what we are best known for. We often see people who have already tried and tested a variety of medicines, treatments and exercises, and these patients are often either chronic pain sufferers or have a problem that is repeatedly recurring.

I am always hopeful when I see a patient that has already ‘tried everything’, as I know from my 20 years of clinical experience, that if they haven’t been to us to try chiropractic yet, there is still a high probability we can offer help.

Chronic pain

In an ideal world we would completely resolve every patient’s problem, and for some this is the case. However, chronic issues are often developed over a number of years, and in reality, these cases are often about improving the patients pain symptoms, and overall wellbeing, so they have the ability to complete daily activities, while being less conscious of their problem. Any improvement in pain symptoms gives the patient a better chance at rehabilitation and relief from constant suffering.

Acute pain

Acute (recent) issues are usually much more easily fixed, and depending on the diagnosis, complete resolution with treatment is much more likely. It is still important in these cases to understand the underlying cause of the issue, so that recurrence or relapse can be avoided where possible. After all a chronic problem had to start somewhere.

Treatment

Treatment can include a variety of techniques, which will be determined by what your chiropractor thinks is most likely to benefit you. This is why at Acomb Chiropractic Clinic, we put such emphasis on understanding you, your body and your diagnosis so we can treat you in the way that is most likely to aid you in your recovery.

Below Matt demonstrates a technique called flexion-distraction, which can be particularly useful for lower back disc problems. All of our 3 treatment rooms have this specialist treatment facility available.
